SHIMAKYU is a doll shop managed by Hiroyuki Tajima, who was born and raised in Gunma as a 3rd generation member of a family of skilled traditional doll craftsmen.
He is managing the shop with a conscious effort to spread the appreciation of the exquisite dolls made according to the ancient “Tohso-Gofun-Gihou” method and the beauty of Japanese pure silk.
Under the philosophy that craft work of quality should be made readily available to customers who truly appreciate them, we try to reduce the charges to a reasonable low price.

Gunma’s Home Crafts Certificate
Thanks to everyone’s kind cooperation, Ohinasama made by SHIMAKYU has been certified as Gunma’s Home Tradition Craft Product.
Gunma’s Home Traditional Craft Product is certified by the Governor of Gunma Prefecture based on the regulation of “The Official Guideline for the Certification of Gunma’s Home Traditional Craft Product.”
Hiroyuki Tajima, the owner and manager of SHIMAKYU, has received this certificate.
This certificate is awarded by the Governor to a qualified skilled person following traditional techniques in the production of home crafts in Gunma Prefecture.
