We wish to preserve and transmit to future generations the silk culture born in Gunma
Ashiginu,” the silk cloth which was dedicated to the Imperial Court by Gunma over 1200 years ago, is still conserved as a treasure at the Shousouin Temple.
Tajima was born in Gunma and has grown up together with the silk.
There is a reduction in the volume of silk produced in Japan due to importation from abroad; however, the quality and beauty of our silk still rank as highest in the world.

SEIKI-NIJYUICHI
(The silkworm named “The 21st Century”)
The “Seiki-Nijyuichi” was produced in Gunma, a prefecture having the largest sericulture industry in Japan.
The exceptional silk textiles developed at Nishijin in Kyoto use the raw silk made from the cocoon filaments of this silkworm, “Seiki-Nijyuichi.”
In order to continue this splendid textile beauty, marveled by textile makers in Nishijin in their detailed process of creating magnificent costumes starting from these naturally blessed threads, Gunma’s silk production must, indeed, continue to flourish.
